                       Flood Water Stains

Carpet has different types of backing, (what the fibers are attached to).  A very common backing is Jute, a natural fiber that works very well for holding carpet together.

If saturated for even a short time the jute can release a sugar type product, which can cause a browning effect on carpet. Normally this is not very difficult to remove. We use an acidic solution to saturate the carpet then extract it and dry the carpet quickly so it doesn't rebrown.

If you have a small area that browned, you could try some white vinegar on a towel and gently wipe the area that is browned, often this can bring the color back to normal without having to call a professional out to rinse it and dry it quickly.

If you have a larger area it would be best to have it done professionally.
